Thought Number 109… Blogger Steamrolls Over History, Common Sense, Political Correctness, AND Scripture All In One Sentence!

Redemption is to free from slavery, not to save absolutely. Jesus redeemed everyone, freed everyone from bondage to sin. But now, like the African Americans when first freed after the Civil War, everyone must decide, Do I want to remain free? or go back to my old slave master, Satan, and share-crop? It is when one makes the decision to remain free, that one then obeys the gospel, and becomes a Christian, and then and only then are they saved.
I don't know, but I would bet a nickel that blogger is white. To his credit (loathe that I am to give him any), I do not think he actually meant to suggest that enslaved African-Americans were servants of satan... at least I'm assuming such.

But I wonder if that blogger has ever interviewed any freed slaves. Never mind the fact that blacks in pre-Civil War times were hardly to be called "share-croppers"... No share to be had at all for them! How many blacks (or for that matter, ANY freed slaves, regardless of race) have EVER decided to put themselves back into slavery once freed? (And to keep the analogy right, I am not talking about people who do so under duress, or in exchange for some return like an indentured servant might do... Update: ALSO to keep the analogy right, we can't talk about people who returned to be free servants in exchange for room and board).

Unbelievable. (And that's before we even consider the Scriptures on the matter.)

Update (12/4/2007): It appears that EgoMakarios has deleted not only the post linked to above, but all the posts in his blog (the blog appears to exist, but there are no posts showing up in it). I don't know if this is an internet glitch or what.
God is God... Get used to it.
