Exclusive: ‘Fatah, Hamas may join ranks’ | Jerusalem Post “Fatah will fight alongside Hamas if and when the IDF launches a military operation in the Gaza Strip, a senior Fatah official in Gaza City said Thursday.” (Nov. 29th).

IDF troops take up a position during a battle on the Gaza border.“Fatah won’t remain idle in the face of an Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip,” the official said. “We will definitely fight together with Hamas against the Israeli army. It’s our duty to defend our people against the occupiers.”

Terrorists have been shooting missiles and bombs every day into Israel from the Gaza Strip for months. Fatah… supposed to be the moderate group that we (the United States) can work with and trust… will not allow Israel to defend herself. If Israel attempts to root out the terrorists… Fatah will join Hamas’ side and attack Israel.

The CRS Report on Foreign Aide to Palistinians states that:

“In late 2006, the State Department notified Congress of the President’s intent to reprogram up to $86 million in prior-year funding to support efforts to reform and rehabilitate Palestinian civil security forces loyal to President Abbas. However, the House Appropriations Committee placed a hold on these funds, seeking more information on where and why the money was to be spent. After the Palestinians reached agreement on the Fatah-Hamas power sharing arrangement, other Members of Congress reportedly expressed further doubts, fearing the money may end up with Hamas. In March 2007, Secretary Rice told a House Appropriations subcommittee that the Administration was now seeking to spend $59 million in direct aid to Abbas, $43 million for training and non-lethal assistance to the Palestinian Presidential Guard and $16 million for improvements at the Karni crossing, the main terminal for goods moving in and out of Gaza. No holds were placed on this request.”

The U.S. Government has given millions of dollars to Fatah… a lot of which is used to train the Fatah “police” and purchase weapons. Once we have supplied Fatah and trained them thoroughly, do we really think they are going to be Israel’s (or our) friends? At least Hamas is honest: they will tell you they want to destroy Israel and the “evil” west. Fatah wants to destroy Israel also… but they are willing to lie and deceive us so that we will pay for everything they need to try to do so.

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, “When Abbas’ Fatah openly declares before the world, only two days after claiming to be dedicated to peace and fighting terror, that it will join Hamas in fighting against Israeli forces if and when Israel launches a long-overdue counter-offensive against the terrorist infrastructure in Gaza, then it is obvious that Abbas and Fatah are not genuine peace-seeking negotiating partners. Hundreds of other facts and considerations to which the ZOA regularly points shows this to be true, but this is simply the latest, most blatant confirmation of the fact.”

I don’t understand why President Bush believes that Israel must make peace with the Palestinians. The Palestinian Muslim’s goal is to destroy Israel… and eventually the West.
